Changes

Improved compatibility with Ubuntu 22.04: the AppImage is built with Ubuntu 22.04 Qt 6 and retains the 7-Zip 23.01 engine from the public 1.0.0b1 AppImage. Optional update checks remain off by default.

Known limitations

• Windows 7-Zip feature parity is incomplete.
• Drag-out to Nautilus needs normal desktop acceptance.
• Nested archives are read-only; rename and folder creation inside archives are unsupported.
• The text editor supports UTF-8 up to 8 MiB. Large operations may block the interface; cancellation can leave partial output.
• Some metadata, symlink and cross-filesystem cases remain untested.

Install

Make the AppImage executable and run it. A Linux desktop with fonts and fontconfig is expected. Downloads and source. Broad distribution testing remains incomplete.

Independent Devside.nl project, not an official 7-Zip release. The application is MIT licensed; 7-Zip, Qt and other components retain their own licenses.
